The recent Helldivers 2 PSN fiasco has caused a lot of noise. Now with Sony publishing Ghost of Tsushima on PC, it has left many fans wondering if this PC port will also have similar PSN requirements. Developer Sucker Punch clarified how account linking will work on its game.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is releasing on PC May 16th. The game’s Steam homepage says that linking PSN will be a requirement. However, that’s not the full story, here’s a clarification.

“A PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the singleplayer game.”

This developer tweet was in response to a PC player who said they’d cancel their pre-order of Ghost of Tsushima on Steam, if Sony continues to force PC players to link PSN account to Steam.

Sony reversing its decision to require a PSN account for Helldivers 2 on PC wasn’t really straightforward. Fans protested against the account requirement – which also caused Helldivers 2 Steam rating to take a nosedive. It was only a matter of time until other PlayStation-published PC games attracted attention.

Ghost of Tsushima 2.19 update recently rolled out on PS5 which allows for cross-play between PS5 and PC players in Legends Mode. PC players will be able to team up with both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players when the PC port is finally out. You can view the PC requirements to play Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on the official Playstation Blog.
